Fr. James O'Donohoe, 8/2/1921 - 10/27/2010
Fr. James O'Donohoe was a good friend of the Grey Nuns and took an interest in the ministries begun by them. One of these ministries, Neighbors Who Care, was the beneficiary of a gift from him which is now held in the Fr. James O'Donohoe Memorial Fund. We have been able to help our very indigent clients, who live on small fixed incomes, purchase needed items that would otherwise be a great burden for them, such as refrigerators, vaccum cleaners, microwave ovens, and blankets.
Fr. James O'Donohoe was born in Boston on August 2, 1921 and passed away on October 27, 2010. After his graduation from Boston College in 1943 he entered St. John's Seminary in Brighton, MA. He was ordained a priest on May 1, 1947. Fr. O'Donohoe studied canon law at the University of Louvain, Belgium and served briefly in the Metropolitan Tribunal. He successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on "Tridentine Seminary Legislation: Its Sources and Its Formation." He spent spent the majority of his priestly life teaching seminarians at St. John's Seminary, Boston College, St. Mary College, Moraga, CA; St. Meinrad Seminary, St. Meinrad, IN; and Notre Dame. He was the Chaplain to the Grey Nuns at Youville Place in Lexington, MA for over a decade during his retirement years.
