Dear has been recognized for his pursuit of peace and non-violence in troubled areas of the world. Following the lecture, Sr. June Ketterer, Area Coordinator of the Sisters of Charity of Montreal based in Lexington, MA presented the 16th annual St. Marguerite d’Youville Humanities Award to Fr. Dear. The award honors a person who exemplifies the values of the “Grey Nuns” foundress, St. Marguerite. As the Mother of Universal Charity in 17th century Montreal, her lifetime was spent in service to the poor. Sr. Marguerite d’Youville faced every new challenge with action, courage and compassion. The award acknowledges those who have followed in her footsteps.
